Budget Votes Include Capital Project Approvals for Five Pre-Referendum Clients
On May 16, school districts across New York State put their 2017-2018 budget proposals up for public vote. Five of Campus CMG's pre-referendum clients also asked residents to weigh in on proposed capital improvement projects, and all five found widespread voter approval.
Allegany - Limestone CSD: The district's $16.1 million project includes a new access road and drop-off loop, a renovated main entrance and cafeteria wall that takes advantage of natural light, theater lobby expansion, locker room renovations, a multi-purpose athletic field, roofing, and MEP improvements.
Brighton CSD: With approval of a $65 million project, the district is able to bring a 21st Century Learning Environment to its primary school, with an expansion that will also support a full-day kindergarten program. Across the district, improvements will also include library, art, music, and science room renovations; indoor and outdoor athletic program improvements (including fitness suite renovations, turf field replacement, and track resurfacing); and a solar project sponsored by Rotary.
Clyde - Savannah CSD: The district's $27.1 million capital project features a gymnasium addition, Pre-K addition, and library renovations at the Elementary School, along with additions and renovations to the aquatics center, cafeteria, and fitness center at the Junior-Senior High School.
Lake Shore CSD: This project was split into two propositions, both of which were approved by voters. The bulk of the $59.8 million project will address high-priority facilities and program needs that were identified during the state-mandated building conditions survey (BCS). The second part of the project will address additional improvements to the district's arts, athletic, and technology programs.
Warsaw CSD: After exploring a number of options, the district achieved voter approval for $17.9 million in capital improvements. In addition to needs identified during the BCS, the project will feature kitchen/cafeteria renovations, new Pre-K classrooms and nurse's suite, gym renovations, a new fitness center, a technology suite, roof replacements, and district office relocation.
