Ellicottville CSD Earns Voters’ Approval for Multi-Purpose Addition
Ellicottville CSD residents voted in favor of $9.8 million in capital improvements on Tuesday, March 19, 2013. Superintendent Mark Ward told reporters that it was "heartwarming" to see the district's residents show their support of the project, even if it meant a nominal tax increase.
The district's 50-year-old building will undergo a partial roof replacement, as well as a number of compliance upgrades. Among the project's most noteworthy improvements will be its new mixed-use gymnasium / auditorium. A multi-purpose addition will join the existing gymnasium to include a stage, along with upgraded seating, lighting, and sound. The new space will enable the district to better accomodate athletic contests, concerts, assemblies, award banquets, testing, community programs, and other special performances.
