Letchworth CSD is located in the Genesee Valley region, near the beautiful gorges of Letchworth State Park in Wyoming County. Three schools on a single campus serve about 1,000 students.
To take advantage of a competitive market, the $26.9 million additions and renovations project went out to bid ahead of the pack and came in $1.6 million under budget. In all, 24 classrooms for grades K-12 were added, including a new 10-classroom, 2nd-floor addition. Athletic program improvements included a new gym and work on seven new athletic fields (1 football field and 2 soccer, baseball and softball fields). The pool area received a new filtration and gutter system, new ceramic depth markers, and expansion for additional seating capacity. Ceiling and floor repair, along with asbestos abatement, was also included in the project.
Two smaller projects followed. Campus provided Clerk of the Works services for a $3.8 million renovation project. In 2007, when voters approved a $3 million EXCEL project to take advantage of funding set aside for District infrastructure improvements. Campus provided full CM services for this project, from pre-referendum through closeout.
In 2013, voters approved a $5.6 million project focused on maintenance and repairs, plus security, technology, communications, and accessibility improvements. Renovations included abatement and floor replacements for the gym plus some hallways and cafeterias. One classroom was converted into a computer lab. Energy efficiency improvements included exterior LED light fixtures and roof deck insulation at the bus garage. MEP upgrades involved various ventilator replacements and a new dehumidification unit for the pool area. Site work included repairs to sidewalks, driveways, parking lots and related drainage, as well as tennis court resurfacing. Restrooms and the auditorium were also modified to meet new accessibility requirements. The project was scheduled over two summers to minimize the interruptions to education activities.
